Police: Man killed in Hopewell home

HOPEWELL, Va. -- Police are investigating after a man was found dead in a Hopewell home Wednesday evening.

Officers responded to the 100 block of Brooklawn Avenue at about 7 p.m. for a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Upon arrival, officers along with Emergency Medical Services located a man inside the home with life threatening injuries. Medical treatment was given and the victim was pronounced dead on scene.

The victim was identified as Jimmy Darrelle Beverly, 49, of Hopewell. Beverly's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) for autopsy.
